The Garden City Bird Sanctuary

Interested in honoring a special person? Would you like a memorial for a family member or friend? Want to share a celebration in a special way?   Consider the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. Plantings of trees, shrubs and other items can be donated In Memory, In Honor, or Compliments of- and are a generous means of acknowledging a special person or organization while also helping the nature refuge and environment.

The Board of Directors selects specific species for planting so that our landscaping design can be maintained with predominantly native species.  Recent varieties have included holly, witchazel, American dogwood, Viburnum, eastern redbud, white cedar, and amelanchier as these species help sustain wildlife.  As our 9-acre sanctuary slowly becomes an arboretum, the tree and shrub varieties will increase.

Other items such as benches, birdbaths and small ponds, or arbors, fence and wall sections, and garden sculptures are also available and we can discuss with these with you. Benches are available for $950. Trees are available for a donation of $200. Checks should be made payable to The Garden City Bird Sanctuary, Inc.  As a certified 510(c)3 nonprofit organization, donations are deductible in accordance with IRS regulations.

In addition to the planting or item, we arrange to have a small marker installed at the site. Please use the space below to clearly indicate the spelling of the designee, which can be a single person or couple. Each spring, we have an informal dedication service, and will let you know of the date.  A certificate is also provided acknowledging the donated item and honoree. Families and friends are invited to the dedication and have consistently provided good feedback.
